Litha: Litha, also known as Midsummer's Night, is tied to the Summer Solstice, celebrated usually around June 21st. This is a time when flowers are blooming, the season of Summer is coming in full swing, and we celebrate the abundance, fruitfulness, and beauty of our crops, gardens, and the Earth Mother. Midsummer’s Night is also thought to be the night that the Fae realm is most accessible to our world. Litha is the longest day of the year, marking the height of the sun’s power, yet also marks the moment of the sun’s descent. Soon the energy will change course and the days will quickly shorten. During Litha everything is still growing and expanding, and brings us the opportunity to do the same within ourselves, and to give gratitude for the bounty we have.
To celebrate Litha, make wreaths, build a faerie house and leave the Fae folk offerings, have a bonfire and potluck with your loved ones, make spell jars, give thanks for your blessings, and use it as a chance to tend to your plants, gather, and dry herbs to use throughout the rest of the year. While Litha is associated with the Sun and Fire, it is wise to bring balance into your celebrations so incorporate water into your rituals as well. Go to a river or lake or even just take a moment to be fully present while you water your plants.
